Summer

Slowly but surely summer is arriving. We haven't really had any "hot" days but I'm hoping they are right around the corner.

Memorial weekend was spent in Arnold. My sisters and brothers-in-laws joined us for a good time. George, my future brother-in-law, shot his first turkey...we were all so proud :-).

Conner and Addy got to experience Cody Park in North Platte for the first time. Daddy gave them chocolate ice cream...man, what a mess we had, but the kids sure liked it. These are a few pictures from that day.

This week the kids have been on vacation from mommy and daddy. We have enjoyed our time but sure miss them a lot! They are staying with grandma and papa in Arnold and I'm sure getting very spoiled. We are meeting them in Arnold Thursday night and then off to Iowa for my cousin's wedding. Another fun, yet busy weekend.

I'm hoping to get some pool time in once we get back to Colorado!

In Phoenix on Dre's Birthday

Where do I begin? It has been so long since I have updated our blog...we have just been so busy.

We went on a great family vacation to Phoenix for one of Dre's college friend's wedding. It was great to get away and get some sun. Both Dre and the kids were in the wedding so that definitely was an experience. Both kids made it down the aisle as flower girl and ring bearer. Conner just walked calmly up the aisle, which was a great surprise. Addy jogged down the aisle with all the flowers still in her hand. At the end of the aisle, Dre told her to throw the flowers so she threw them up in the air and walked over to them. They got a ton of swimming in, which was a great thing to make them sleep and Dre's god parents were so kind that they watched the kids three nights while we were down there so we could enjoy some adult time :-)

Mother's Day was a challenge, yet fun. The kids gave me a great necklace with their birthstones in it. Its beautiful. However, they both seemed to be a challenge that day. We had gone to church and then out to brunch with Dre's family and neither seemed to care that we were all suppose to be sitting down and eating....imagine that, 2 year olds not doing what you want. Anyway, the weather was terrible that day but I did manage to make it to the store to purchase flowers and vegetable seeds. Yep, that's right, I'm going to try (key word being try) to grow a garden. I pretty much just threw the seeds in the ground and planted the tomato plants, so we'll see.

Dre finished up with his high school swim team this weekend, they placed 3rd in state. I'm so glad to have that season over with, now he will be able to spend his weekends with us and helping me around the house :-) He also starts a new job on the 1st with Time Warner. This is the company he worked for before going to Hoff & Leigh, he will be in sales still, but will now have a base salary, which I'm thrilled about. It just adds a little more stability to our already crazy life.

Today was a great day (and busy)! We took a kids on a hike at Garden of the Gods park and then took a drive up to Manitu Springs. Someday, I do plan to get up that incline, I just never seem to be able to do it when others are going. It was a beautiful sunny 85 degree day here today so we spent the entire day outside. I got my windows (and we have a lot of them) washed and I also got a good start on marking stuff for a garage sale...yuck, I know.

We are heading to Arnold for Memorial weekend and then I'm out of town in Georgia for work. We are so looking forward to a great summer!

Happy 2nd Birthday

Conner and Addy celebrated their 2nd birthday last weekend and wow did we ever have a great time. My parents we able to come spend a couple days with us in addition to Aunt Amber...we sure missed Uncle Justin to cause all the trouble.

On Friday we celebrated Grandma Mia's birthday with lunch and then made a special trip to the mall to get Addy's ears pierced. She has been commenting on mom's earings forever and she decided (or was it mom?) to get her ears pierced. She only cried for a second and has loved them ever since. No Conner did not get his ears pierced, instead he got a big boy hair cut. My mom says they don't look like they could be twins anymore as Conner looks so much older.

Saturday was the day of the party, thankfully we had good weather and everyone was able to attend. They celebrated with a Dora and Diego themed party and even had Dora come to visit thanks to some great Aunts and Uncles. Dora made balloon animals and did face painting. Thanks again to all those who were able to attend.

We are looking forward to the upcoming Spring weather, Conner and Addy love playing outside, plus they can get some good use out of the Gator that Papa and Grandma bought for them. Mom will have to get a picture of them up here too.

Hair Cuts

Well it has been awhile since the kids had their last haircuts and finally I was getting embarassed about their hair situation. Addy's was getting out of control. So here are a couple updated pictures.

I can't believe they are going to be 2 in a month. Each day they are doing something new. Conner's new saying is "Ah, man!" which he got from Dora. And Addy loves anything Dora (Dora panties, Dora jacket, Dora movie, Dora and Boots sippy, Dora shoes). Its crazy!

Amy's 31st Birthday

It was my big 31st birthday (which I can't believe I'm 31) the other week and as you might be able to tell, we had a grand ol time. Chris and I celebrated our birthdays together and we all went out singing and dancing at this dive bar. It was great to be with friends and family!

First Sledding Experience

One of the gifts the twins received for Christmas was a sled and we got to use it today. Since last night, we have gotten about 5 inches of snow and we have a little hill out back of our house. Addy loved the sled; however, Conner preferred to just run around in the snow. They really loved playing outside and cried like mad when it was time to come in. I have to say this is about the first time they have really been outside to play in the snow. Luckily, Grandma had given us some snowboots; however, I was not prepared with waterproof gloves for the kids. That will be my next purchase! It has been forever since I have been out to play in the snow and have forgotten all the clothes it takes. As we typically get the most snow here in the springs, I'm sure the kids will have many more chances to go sledding in the future.

Christmas and New Year's

Our family had a great Christmas! We were able to host the Trinidads Christmas Eve and then had our own Christmas on Christmas morning. It was nice being in our own home for the morning. We celebrated the rest of the day at Reuben and Marie's. The day after Christmas we headed for Nebraska for the weekend. My grandparents from Iowa, aunt, uncle and their grandbaby made the trip also from Iowa. We had a fun weekend and the twins were spoiled some more! As you can see from the photos, there was no lack of presents for them anywhere we went. Not to mention my Uncle Ray....yes he got a special present so now he is ready to hit the beaches in Virginia the next time they visit :-) Ray...I'm sure you didn't expect this photo to hit the Internet, actually how could it not!

The family gatherings continued through the first of the year with the Trinidads. Always a good time is had with them! We all celebrated into the wee hours of the morning Jan 1. Dre and I didn't stay up last New Year's so hosting a party at our house was a nice change.

I'm looking forward to the new year and wish all our friends and family a great 2009!

Merry Christmas

Christmas is fast approaching, I really can't believe its one week away. I still have some shopping to do and lots of wrapping. Dre and I attended a "Cracker Christmas Party" last weekend. It gave us a chance to get dressed up in ugly Christmas sweaters and go out downtown. We got lots of looks but most people got a kick out of them. If you can believe this, our sweaters were some of nicer ones...some people went all out.

New Home

We are now settled into our new home. We love the space it provides and the kids love being able to play outside. It will be hard to move out of this one in a few years, but will appreciate our time here.

Happy Thanksgiving

We traveled to Nebraska for Thanksgiving this year. It was a nice weekend. Conner and Addy ran wild, as they usually do at papa's and grandma's. We attempted a little Christmas shopping on Friday evening and watched some football. The kids got their first rides in combines and tractors and even attempted driving, which was a bit scary!

We are looking forward to settling into our new home and can't wait for the busy holiday season to begin.

I hope all our friends and family had a great Thanksgiving as well!

Deer Hunting

Dre, his brother RD, and friend Jeff went back to Nebraska for deer hunting. Both Dre and RD got a couple of nice white tail bucks. This was RD's first deer kill and can't wait to do it some more!

Conner and Addy 20 months

We were in Arnold last weekend and got some great photos of the kids. Both copy almost every word you say and Addy copies your actions. She is such a girl (I love it!). And Conner is definitely our little boy. Its amazing to see the differences in their little (or maybe I should say big) personalities. I think we are going to start some potty training after Thanksgiving. Addy has gone potty a couple times and they are both showing lots of interest

Trying something new

Got this idea from a friend and thought it was a great way to update all our friends and family about what we have been up to. Now, I know I'm famous for not keeping my myspace page updated but I'm really going to give this one a try. I also thought this would be much easier then dragging out baby books, which I don't think I have even opened since the kids were 3 months old. So, please add this site to your favorites and check in on the Trinidads every once in a while.
